So after our time in Rome we loaded up on a charter bus and
headed for Tuscany. Our first stop was definitely an interesting one! We
visited Giardino dei Tarocchi (Tarot Garden) in Capalbio-it is a sculpture
garden based on the tarot cards. It was designed by Niki de Saint Phalle and it
took her 20 years to finish. After you look at the pictures I took of it you
will know why! We then traveled to the towns of Bolgheri and Castagneto
Carducci. Our hotel was beautiful. It had two pools-one of which was Olympic
size!
We then visited a vineyard in Bolgheri. For any one who watches Dancing with the Stars, this vineyard was owned by the dancer Sara Di Vaira and her family! How cool is that!? We learned about Italian
agriculture and also had a wonderful lunch! There was a cute dog there that
looked so much like Rusty! It did make me miss home-but just for a minute haha.
Our hotel was in walking distance to the ocean so we went at took a walk on the
beach and watched the sunset. The beaches here are not like what I am used to
like Destin or Gulf Shores- here the sand is darker but not rocky. They are
huge cliffs on the beach where people sit and tan. Most people do not go to the
public beach but pay about 20 euros to go to a beach club where they provide
chairs and umbrellas. We will have a beach day later to week so I will take
pictures then. That’s it for now. Ciao!
